President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume nuclear negotiations within seven days. The offer came after three hours of indirect talks between U.S. and Iranian envoys, with Tehran seeking the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports, a waiver on oil sanctions and a ceasefire that would include Lebanon. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the choice now rests with Washington, while President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran remains open to diplomacy.
